Video-owner and community-owner revenue shares
Understand the percentage on each video and how the remainder is allocated.
On this page
The recorded split belongs to the video
The community owner sets the percentage of a video’s distributable revenue allocated to the person who owns that video. The community owner receives the remainder. These two shares add up to 100% of the distributable amount.
Distributable revenue means the amount assigned for sharing under the applicable terms. Do not assume it equals gross receipts, or add a platform fee or payment-processing deduction that is not stated in the earning record.
An example, not an earning promise
For a distributable amount of ₦10,000 and a recorded video-owner share of 70%, the video owner’s allocation is ₦7,000 and the community owner’s allocation is ₦3,000. The same percentages applied to a different distributable amount produce different allocations.
The calculator below illustrates the arithmetic. It does not estimate your views, programme rate, actual revenue or available payout balance.
Review and manage the terms
- Open Creator studio → Communities or Revenue shares.
- Select the community and video you want to review.
- Read the video-owner percentage, community-owner remainder and recorded terms version.
- Use the permitted allocation controls and record the reason requested for a change.
- Check the terms stored on the individual video. Do not assume a community default rewrites a previous video’s recorded terms.
A percentage is not a cleared balance
Recording a split establishes terms; it does not create revenue by itself. A video must also qualify, generate attributed revenue and pass the relevant checks before an amount becomes available. Publishing approval, revenue terms and payout approval are separate decisions.
